Here is my art journal spread from my “Road Trip to Nowhere” trip on September 11, 2019; on this day, I traveled from Jamestown, North Dakota to Bottineau, North Dakota, with a stop at the International Peace Garden on the border of the U.S. and Canada.
The next journal spread is from September 12, when I traveled from Bottineau, North Dakota to Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota. It was pouring rain the entire day. 😦

Thursday, September 12: Bottineau to Bismarck, North Dakota

These are fascinating, Cathy! How many of these art journals do you have, and do you create them as soon as you come home, or in retrospect? It looks like a great rainy day project. I’m just not neat enough. Mine would be splotched and messy 🙂 🙂

This is from my Road Trip to Nowhere, which expanded into three journals because it was 34 days of travel. This is the first of three, but it also has my day-to-day accounts in it. So the art portions are just two page spreads at the end of each day. And I have done them all since I returned home, in retrospect, but with lots of notes to help me remember. Mine are rather messy, I think, compared to the many art journals I follow on Instagram! 🙂

I love how you get so much detail on each page creating a real visual record of your trip. I’m wondering the same as Jo, do you do them as soon as you get home? I must admit I am not very organised, I am full of good intentions to finish mine while the journey is still fresh in my mind, but as you saw with my “Red Centre” journal it was 4 years later and with the encouragement of your posts that I finally finished that one. My New Zealand one is in the pipe line…🤭

I’m still working on these journals, Pauline, and as you can see, I’ve only made it through September 12, and I was traveling until October 4! So I have a lot more to do. It will take me a while, just because I have so many other little “projects!” 🙂

Good to have projects. That’s what I have appreciated during this stay at home period. Uninterrupted time to spend on projects

I think projects are good, but I have trouble staying focused on them!

I’m not sure I knew about the Peace Garden there. I’m thankful that you show us this via your journal.

It was quite a long drive out of my way to get to the International Peace Garden, Christopher, and I’m not sure it was worth it in the end. It turned out it was a cold and gloomy day, so not very attractive, although some parts were nice. And then there is always the hassle at the border. I’ll be writing about it all much later. 🙂
