Here is my art journal spread from my “Road Trip to Nowhere” trip on September 9, 2019; on this day, I traveled from Watertown, South Dakota to Fargo, North Dakota.

“ART JOURNAL” INVITATION: I invite you to post a journal spread on your own blog about your travels. You can do collage, watercolor, acrylics, stamps, drawing or stencils — whatever art form your heart desires. These are my first art journal spreads and drawings, so I can only hope I’ll become more creative as I practice and play. I invite you to do the same!
One of my intentions for my “Road Trip to Nowhere” in September of 2019 was to “Make art journal spreads for each state (Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado) through collage, drawing or collecting items.” I’m having so much fun with this that I’ve decided to make a journal spread for each day of my journey.
If you’d like some ideas on creating an art journal, please see my page: on creating art from travels. I actually don’t have many ideas yet, but I hope to add more as I experiment with different art forms. Also, I would love to see any great ideas from the artists out there. Feel free to add a link to your own blog if you do bullet or travel journals of your own.
Include the link in the comments below by Thursday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. EST. When I write my post in response to this challenge on Friday, June 12, I’ll include your links in that post.
This will be an ongoing invitation, once on the second Friday of each month. Feel free to jump in at any time. 🙂
I hope you’ll join in our community. I look forward to reading your posts!

- Pauline, of Living in Paradise…, creates some magnificent art journals, using sketching and watercolor, from her travels. Below are two separate posts with the same title. 🙂
Thanks to all of you who shared posts on the “art journal spreads” invitation.
It must be a fun distraction from reading and writing, Cathy. I’m still trying to sort out my postcards and I suppose they would make the basis of a good journal, but I haven’t the patience. 🙂 🙂

It is just something else to do to vary things up. I am getting bored with almost everything I’m doing these days. It’s time for a change, I think. I’ll love to see what you do with your postcards, Jo. 🙂

They’re still in a muddle. I get part way through sorting and have to leave off to do something else. Couple of rainy days coming up, so maybe… 🙂 🙂

For sure it’s hard to stay in if it’s sunny out, and warm. Your project is certainly best saved for rainy days. We don’t have that problem here. Even today it was forecast to be sunny, and it’s as gray and gloomy as ever. Also, I don’t know about you, but I have trouble concentrating lately. 🙂

Yes that’s an issue for me too. And just when I think I’m feeling rational and calm Mick will feed me a snippet of news that plunges me into a downward spiral. Like the British Health Minister saying there will be no holidays abroad for Brits this year, when we’ve just booked James and family to come here at the end of July. 😔😔

Oh no! I’m so sorry! That is depressing. I keep wanting Sarah to come up here and stay with us for a while since she’s unemployed, but she’s afraid she’ll either spread something to us, or us to her! We’re just perpetually stuck in limbo, it seems. Keep the faith, Jo. I hope things will improve, by some miracle.

Thank you, RAK. I hope you try and enjoy the process. It’s a fun and tactile thing to do. 🙂

I have no idea how you have the time to do all this! The journals are so creative. I used to collect articles about places I wanted to visit, but now I am decluttering so everything is going into the recycle bin. I figured that if I die from this virus I really wouldn’t want my kids to have to battle through stuff that is meaningless to them.

Well, you can see that I don’t get that many done in an entire month! Even a month where we stay at home. I guess getting rid of things would be a good idea; I just can’t tackle it right now. I don’t know why, hard to focus I guess. 🙂
