Some of the most beguiling things about Morocco are the markets filled to the brim with enticing and colorful decorative objects and foods. I fell prey to many of them, and came home with an extra bag stuffed with scarves, paintings, mother-of-pearl inlaid mirrored frames, Fatima hands, spices, a leather bag and two wallets, and even a rug. π I sadly never bought any ceramics because the pieces I wanted were large and cumbersome, and I would have had to carry them not only through Morocco, but through Italy as well.

βPHOTOGRAPHYβ INVITATION: I invite you to create a photography intention and then create a blog post for a place you have visited. Alternately, you can post a thematic post about a place, photos of whatever you discovered that set your heart afire. You can also do a thematic post of something you have found throughout all your travels: churches, doors, people reading, people hiking, mountains, patterns, all black & white, whatever!
In my case, my intention was to look for thematic possibilities during my trip to Morocco and was enticed by all the colorful markets (and the goods!).
You probably have your own ideas about this, but in case youβd like some ideas, you can visit my page: photography inspiration.
I challenge you to post no more than 20-25 photos (I have a lot more here!) and to write less than 1,500 words about any travel-related photography intention you set for yourself. Include the link in the comments below by Wednesday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m. EST. When I write my post in response to this challenge on Thursday, October 10, Iβll include your links in that post.
This will be an ongoing invitation, every first, second, and third (& 5th, if there is one) Thursday of each month. Feel free to jump in at any time. π
I hope youβll join in our community. I look forward to reading your posts!

I invite you all to settle in and read a few posts from our wandering community. I promise, youβll be inspired!
- Jude, of life at the edge, takes us back to summer at Heligan’s Sundial Garden.
- Suzanne, of Life at No. 22, wrote a post about art in Lisbon: ARty Lisbon – A REvisit.
- Sheetal, of sheetalbravon, has captured some of Venice’s fading elegance: Magical Venice!
Thanks to all of you who shared posts on the βphotographyβ invitation. π
I am traveling from September 1 to October 4. If I cannot respond to or add your links due to wi-fi problems or time constraints, please feel free to add your links in both this post and my next scheduled post. If I canβt read them when you post them, I will get to them as soon as I can. Thanks for your understanding! π
Beautiful pictures of Morocco. It reminds me of Indian markets with all those spices, caps and scarves. The Blue City looks fantastic and Iβd love to visit it some day. Also thank you for giving my post on Venice a shout-out. π

Thank you, Sheetal. I know the Indian markets are similar to the ones in Morocco. They are very enticing too! I loved the blue city of Chefchaouen. And of course, you’re welcome for the Venice link! π

Oh, my! What a feast for the eyes! Some excellent shots here Cathy. The modern supermarket looks so sterile. Love the olives, the cinnamon, the bags, the shirts, the rugs…. I am not big on shopping but I could make an exception here π

Thanks, Jude. I loved the colorful markets in Morocco. I did a lot of damage to my pocketbook there, as you can imagine! I love to shop anyway, so when shopping is so enticing and colorful, I really have no self-control. And you’re so right about that modern supermarket. So sterile looking. But we found lots of goodies for our picnic here. π

So traditional – apart from the bored guy looking at his phone! Enticing indeed.

Haha, yes, lots of Moroccan guys looking at their phones all through the markets! I had lots of fun shopping in Morocco. π

The colour and the bustle it certainly makes you feel alive. We should’ve gone when we had the chance and not put it off. Oh well, I will enjoy blog posts about the area π

I loved the markets in Morocco most of all, Suzanne; so much bustle and so many enticing goods. As for going there, we can’t all go everywhere, but it’s fun to squeeze in what we can and leave the rest to the imagination. π

What glorious colours! I haven’t been to Morocco (and a bit scared to go now to be honest) but my buys at these traditional markets in the mddle east have always been cinnamon (I love those bundles of cinnamon sticks) and spices, slippers (which invariably fall apart after a few months wear), and scarves. I did once buy two wall lights in terracotta which served us for many years, being painted each time we decorated the conservatory where they were, but sadly I had to leave them behind when I downsized. I would have loved to have bought some ceramics and cooking vessels. Your photographs are a lovely souveneir. Do you ever frame any and have they as decor in your house?

I loved the markets in Morocco as much as I did in India, Mari. I never bought any slippers, but I did buy spices, scarves, paintings, and Fatima hands. Your two terra cotta wall lights sound nice. I wanted so badly to buy ceramics, but I still had Italy ahead of me and I just couldn’t imagine hauling ceramics for three more weeks! I rarely frame my photos, but I should do it sometime. Thanks for asking and thanks for your kind words about them. π

I can imagine how tempting it would be to buy some of these treasures. The colours are so inviting.

It was very tempting, for sure, and I easily succumbed to the temptations. π
