“ART JOURNAL” INVITATION: I invite you to post a journal spread on your own blog about your travels. You can do collage, watercolor, acrylics, stamps, drawing or stencils — whatever art form your heart desires. These are my first art journal spreads and drawings, so I can only hope I’ll become more creative as I practice and play. I invite you to do the same!
One of my intentions for my “Road Trip to Nowhere” in September of 2019 was to “Make art journal spreads for each state (Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado) through collage, drawing or collecting items.” I’m having so much fun with this that I’ve decided to make a journal spread for each day of my journey.
If you’d like some ideas on creating an art journal, please see my page: on creating art from travels. I actually don’t have many ideas yet, but I hope to add more as I experiment with different art forms. Also, I would love to see any great ideas from the artists out there. Feel free to add a link to your own blog if you do bullet or travel journals of your own.
Include the link in the comments below by Thursday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. EST. When I write my post in response to this challenge on Friday, April 10, I’ll include your links in that post.
This will be an ongoing invitation, once on the second Friday of each month. Feel free to jump in at any time. 🙂
I hope you’ll join in our community. I look forward to reading your posts!

I invite you all to settle in and read a few posts from our wandering community. I promise, you’ll be inspired!
- Pauline, of Living in Paradise…, is a fabulous artist and has shared some of her very creative art journal pages. She’s so inspirational. 🙂
Thanks to all of you who shared posts on the “art journaling” invitation.
What a gorgeous journal creatively put together! I have loads of bits and ends I collected on my journey but they are all in a folder, this is a superb way to preserve them and their memories . Awesome!

You’re really good at this. All the colors and the textures, shapes placed inside shapes. There is the sense that everything extends, grows off the page. I know I should be inspired to try the same, but I haven’t gone anywhere in a while. We’ll see.
Such good work, Cathy!

I’ve never been much of an artist, Christopher, so it’s fun to push myself to create something outside of my comfort zone. I still have much to learn. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words. Any creation such as this doesn’t have to be about travel, just life and whatever inspires you. 🙂

These are really inspirational Cathy. Each one is a little works of art. I agree such a terrific way to preserve your memories. Thank you for the link. I do hope some other bloggers jump on board. I’ve just got a small one page contribution this month, but I’m working on some more..https://retiredfromgypsylife.wordpress.com/2020/03/19/a-birthday-celebration/

Thanks, Pauline. I’d like to incorporate more drawing into mine, although now I seem to rely heavily on collage. Drawing is hard for me, but it’s fun to try, even if things never turn out how I’d like! 🙂 Thanks for your contribution; I enjoyed it and linked it to my next post on April 10. 🙂

Drawing gets easier if you practice. I think you capture the feelings in your sketches and collage is a great way to save your memories.

I’m hoping to find more time for practice now that we’re stuck inside for the long haul. It’s fun to save these memories in a visual way. You have inspired me much! 🙂

Thank you so much, Ruthie. I’m certainly no artist, but it’s fun to try something new for a change. I love having the actual journals as mementos of my trip too. I hope you can visit these places too. It was a fun trip that I’ll be writing more about in the year ahead. I traveled over 7,000 miles altogether!
